Do not just think about the Photography equipment or gear, all the time if you wish to improve your photographs and photography skills in general. Think beyond the equipment. Shift your attention from your gear to the subject.
Content is the king. Content is the king. You can understand why I wrote this twice. If your content is not good, it won't make a good photograph, however strong it may be technically. So don't release the shutter without a reason.
How you present the content. What you show and what you don't. Everything exists there but when you take a picture or I should say when you take a good picture you only show what you want to show. All that is visible does not make for a good photograph. only include what is relevant and adds to what you wish to convey.
Guess what it is? It's a part of an onion as seen through a macro lens. I noticed different hues in these oninions and instead of showing the complete onion, decided to show it as an artistic abstract.

Both the Photographs above have been shot for lingerie but due to different products, target audience and brief, the approach is entirely different. One for breast feeding shows more innocent expressions while in the other one the model conveys a sexy and seductive attitude. Mix the two and the entire meaning would change.

So next time when you like a particular photograph, before you ask "what equipment did you use? " Try to explore and discuss why and how it was shot. Try to understand the thought process of the photographer and not just the equipment. The Photography gear is important but the skills involved in using it are far more significant.
